Spotlight on – Nectaroscordum siculum, Allium Bulgaricum

The Allium Bulgaricum – Yes, it is basically a humble onion BUT even onions can be pretty

Unusual umbrellas of hanging, bell-shaped, custardy yellow and green flowers with a blush of  dusty pink thrown in. They tower above other perennials on stiff stems and flowet in May and June. As the flowers fade, strange shuttlecock-shaped seedheads appear.

They need sunny, well drained borders and also do well in shade.
